World Endurance Championship Cancels Qatar, Bahrain Races
The World Endurance Championship will end its season with races in Spain and Italy after planned events in Qatar and Bahrain were cancelled, organisers announced on Tuesday.
The final two rounds are now scheduled for Barcelona on October 16-18 and Monza on November 6-8.
WEC head Frederic Lequien said organisers had been monitoring developments in the Middle East and had switched to an alternative plan because of the present situation.
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the safety of teams, colleagues and motorsport fans remained the priority because of the ongoing situation in the region.
