Wildberries Volgograd site catches fire after attack

An overnight attack damaged a Wildberries logistics facility in Volgograd and started a fire, the Russian online retailer said Friday, adding that no one was hurt.

Wildberries said fire crews were at the scene. The company said it had reorganised logistics chains and was receiving deliveries and dispatching orders from other facilities.

The Volgograd facility is more than 350 kilometres from Ukraine's border. The attack followed other strikes on Wildberries warehouses in Russia. Kyiv has accused the company of storing drone parts and helping the Russian army.

Ukraine first targeted Wildberries warehouses on July 18-19 in the Tambov region and the Moscow region, causing eight casualties and destroying facilities. Wildberries said Thursday that one person was injured and more than 200 employees were evacuated after a drone attack caused a fire at a warehouse in the western Penza region. Another Wildberries warehouse was hit by a Ukrainian drone in Sarapul, about 1,100 kilometres east of Moscow.
