Walmart profit falls 9.4% as US sales growth slows
Walmart reported second-quarter profit of $6.4 billion on Thursday, down 9.4 percent from a year earlier, while growth in its US comparable sales slowed.
The US retailer said comparable sales in the United States, a closely watched benchmark, grew 2.6 percent in the quarter, compared with 4.1 percent in the first quarter.
Walmart said the benefit of a US tariff refund was offset by lower pricing designed to attract customers under pressure from inflation.
