USA Swimming CFO Cory Hilliard arrested on theft charges

Cory Hilliard, USA Swimming's chief financial officer, was arrested Monday in Colorado on charges of theft, embezzlement and official misconduct linked to his time as a University of Colorado employee.

The Boulder County district attorney's office said prosecutors would move forward with the case after a University of Colorado internal audit and an investigation by university police.

The office said Hilliard had administered the university's Nike Elite program, where he managed employee product benefit allocations. It said an investigation found he misappropriated $9,510 from the university for personal use between 2021 and 2025.

Hilliard was hired by USA Swimming last December. USA Swimming told Swimming World magazine it learned of the arrest Monday morning and placed him on leave while the sport governing body conducts an investigation.

Uncertainty notes

The allegations have not been adjudicated.
The outcome of the prosecution is unresolved.
