US says it struck Iranian Guards linked to deadly Jordan attack

Iranian agencies reported US attacks on Sirik, a port on the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran.

Iranian supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the United States had shown the worthlessness of the American president's signature and threatened what he called unforgettable lessons.

Iranian officials and state media reported casualties and damage in Hormozgan, Khuzestan and southern villages, including claims of strikes on power facilities and desalination plants.

Kuwaiti residents reported higher demand for water and canned goods and quieter streets and beaches after attacks on infrastructure.

Jordan's army said it shot down 10 missiles Saturday and at least three the previous day.

US Central Command said new US strikes began at 2200 GMT and were aimed at degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and punishing IRGC forces after attacks on US service members in Jordan.

Iranian news agencies reported US attacks on Sirik, a southern Iranian port on the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said Iran and the axis of resistance had "unforgettable lessons" to offer the United States.

Hezbollah held a mass funeral in Majdal Selm for 44 people, including 39 fighters and four civilians said to have been killed in Israeli operations, and one man who died of natural causes.

The Gulf Cooperation Council secretary general condemned Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan and called strikes on civilian infrastructure war crimes.

Kuwait said Iran struck a power and water plant and an oil facility, and its state oil firm reported injuries and damage after an Iranian attack targeting the oil facility.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun left Beirut for Washington and was expected to discuss the ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese areas.

Bahrain's army said its air-defence systems thwarted a wave of Iranian attacks, while an AFP journalist in Manama reported hearing blasts after sirens sounded.

Bahrain's army said air defences repelled Iranian attacks, while Iran said it targeted a US-used air base in Bahrain.

US Central Command said the two US service members were killed in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, and that one service member was missing in action.

The report says confirmed US military deaths since the conflict began on February 28 had reached 16.

Iranian officials said US attacks had killed and wounded civilians in Hormozgan and Khuzestan and disrupted drinking water supplies in several southern villages.
