Two Bosnian climbers die and three are missing on Mount Elbrus

Two Bosnian climbers died and three others were missing in bad weather on Mount Elbrus, Russia's highest mountain, authorities and state media said.

Seven people attempted to climb the 5,642-metre peak in the Russian Caucasus on Saturday. A prosecutor in Bardino-Balkaria said one person returned to base and reported that two people were sick.

The prosecutor said a rescue operation found two bodies and was searching for three more climbers. Tass news agency reported that two of the seven climbers had been rescued. It said the bodies of the two people who died had not been brought down because of bad weather.

Bosnia's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic confirmed reports of the deaths and called the incident "a major tragedy."
