Turkey's Ozel leaves CHP and says he is forming Yeni Parti
Ozgur Ozel, who was ousted as leader of Turkey's main opposition CHP, said Friday that he was resigning from the party and setting up a new opposition faction.
In a video posted on X, Ozel signed resignation papers and founding documents for Yeni Parti, or New Party. He said he would use the new faction to lead the fight against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Ozel also said another 91 CHP lawmakers had resigned and would join him.
