Trump set to visit Ireland in September, media says

US President Donald Trump is expected to make a brief visit to Ireland in September, including a stop at his family's golf resort in Doonbeg during the Irish Open, Press Association and RTE reported.

The reports said Trump is expected at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in western Ireland around September 12. The resort is hosting the Irish Open from September 9 to 13.

Media also reported that Trump is expected to visit Dublin, but details of any engagements were not confirmed. Ireland's prime minister's office had not confirmed whether Trump would meet Prime Minister Micheal Martin.

Trump's last visit to Ireland as president, in 2019, drew protests by climate and other activists. Martin visited the United States in March for the annual St Patrick's Day trip and met Trump, with the two leaders disagreeing on issues including the Iran war and migration.
