Trump seeks birthright citizenship rehearing

US President Donald Trump said on July 8 that he would ask the Supreme Court to rehear a case on birthright citizenship after the court rejected his effort to restrict the constitutional provision.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that he would seek a rehearing “immediately” and called the ruling wrong.

The Supreme Court rejected Trump’s bid on June 30. Petitions for rehearing must be filed within 25 days of a decision and are very rarely granted.
