Three Egyptians found dead in Sava river near Zagreb, police say
Police said the bodies of three Egyptians were found in the Sava river near Zagreb on Tuesday, two days after they were reported missing after going swimming. A police statement said a friend reported the three missing after last seeing them on Sunday when they went for a swim in the river near the Croatian capital. Police said a search involving firefighters and rescue services was launched. Officers spotted and recovered two bodies from the river on Tuesday, and firefighters later recovered the third body. Croatia issued more than 5,500 work and residence permits to Egyptian nationals in 2025. Egyptians are the ninth-largest group of foreign workers in the European Union country.
