Taylor Swift paid $160,000 New York wedding permit, mayor says

Taylor Swift paid more than $160,000 for a New York City permit for her wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Friday.

Mamdani was asked whether Swift would reimburse the city for police overtime linked to the ceremony. He said Swift had already paid the permit cost for the event and the response to it.

The wedding took place over two days in Manhattan, drew hundreds of celebrities and involved a large deployment of police officers who shut down streets around the arena.

The total cost of the event is not known. Forbes magazine estimated it exceeded $20 million. The couple also donated $26 million to several charities before the wedding.
