Tanker reports two Hormuz explosions, UKMTO says
A tanker reported hearing two explosions while transiting the Strait of Hormuz near Oman, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency said Thursday.
UKMTO said the incident happened about ten miles, or 16 kilometres, southeast of Kumzar, Oman. It said the vessel and crew were reported safe and that no environmental damage had been reported.
The report came as Iran and Oman hold talks on jointly managing the waterway. The supplied AFP report said Iran has taken de facto control over the strait since the Middle East war began on February 28 and has fired on ships it said failed to follow authorised routes.
