Swiss Re says first-half profit rose 9%

Swiss Re said Thursday that its net profit rose nine percent in the first half of the year to $2.8 billion, as the reinsurer said it remained watchful ahead of the peak of hurricane season.

The Swiss group, which provides insurance to insurance companies, reported the figure for the January-June period.

Chief Executive Officer Andreas Berger said the first-half earnings put Swiss Re "well on track" towards its 2026 financial targets, while adding that the company would "remain vigilant" as the hurricane season nears its peak.
