Sudan army sources say troops regained key Khartoum-El-Obeid highway
Sudan's army has regained control of a key highway linking Khartoum with El-Obeid, two military sources told AFP on Monday.
The sources said the advance pushed the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces west, away from El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state. One source said it opened a second supply route to El-Obeid and areas beyond it.
Both sources requested anonymity because they were not authorised to brief the media. The report did not give casualty figures or a precise timeline for the advance.
