Spider-Man opens with $355 million in North America

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opened with an estimated $355 million in North America, one of the largest domestic box office debuts on record.

Box Office Mojo said the Sony and Marvel film's debut was the second-biggest in domestic box office history, behind "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019 at $357 million. The figures were not adjusted for inflation.

Industry tracker Exhibitor Relations put the film's overseas ticket sales at $573 million, bringing its worldwide total to $928 million.

The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, with Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Florence Pugh and Sadie Sink also in the cast.

Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" was second in North America with $51 million, taking its United States and Canada total to nearly $400 million. Disney-Pixar's "Toy Story 5" was third with $6.3 million, followed by Universal's "Minions & Monsters" with $5.8 million and Disney's live-action "Moana" with $5.3 million.
