Second shooting in four months reported near US consulate in Toronto
Shots were fired early on Monday near the US consulate in Toronto, marking the second shooting reported near the diplomatic compound in four months.
Toronto police said no one was injured.
Officers heard a firearm being discharged in the area, and witnesses reported seeing a white sedan flee the scene.
Police cordoned off the area and found shell casings. No suspects had been identified.
The US consulate thanked Toronto police for their response.
The incident followed a shooting on March 10 in which two men fired multiple shots at the consulate.
Police described that attack as a national security incident.
Authorities said in June that two men, aged 18 and 19, had been arrested as part of the investigation.
Police also said they were investigating other shootings carried out using a recurring and similar method, including a March 2 shooting at a Toronto synagogue.
Uncertainty notes
No suspects have been identified in Monday's shooting.
Whether Monday's shooting is connected to earlier incidents is unclear.
Police did not provide further details about the claim that the men arrested in the March investigation were recruited to carry out violent acts.
