Savannah Guthrie appeals for help over missing mother
US television journalist Savannah Guthrie appealed for public help Saturday, six months after her 84-year-old mother disappeared from the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared on the night of January 31 to February 1. Recovered security camera footage showed a masked and gloved person prowling outside her home.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department said on July 31 that the search was continuing and released two purported ransom notes sent to a local television station on February 2 and February 6. The first note made a ransom demand and threatened Nancy Guthrie's life. The second note said she had died while captive and was “buried in nature now.”
Nancy Guthrie's remains have not been recovered, and authorities said there are no known suspects.
Savannah Guthrie wrote on Instagram that the family was “begging for help” and urged anyone who recognized the writing in the notes, or had noticed unusual behavior by someone they know, to come forward.
Investigators have offered a reward for information and said tips may be given anonymously.
