Russian strikes kill one in Sumy, official says

Russian strikes killed one person and wounded others in Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, Oleg Grygorov, head of the regional military administration, said Tuesday.

Grygorov said on Telegram that guided aerial bombs hit civilian infrastructure in the city's Kovpakivsky district. He said three locations were struck and that private homes and infrastructure came under attack.

The bombing came after Ukrainian strikes killed 11 people and wounded dozens in a Russian Black Sea resort and in Moscow-annexed Crimea.

Russia launched its full-scale offensive against Ukraine in February 2022 and has regularly struck Ukraine, including from Crimea. Ukraine's front lines were little changed in July as its forces largely stalled Russia's momentum, according to AFP analysis of Institute for the Study of War data.
