Russian drone maker founder wounded in Tula shooting
Andrei Cherezov, the director and founder of Russian drone manufacturer Russian Air Transport Laboratory, was wounded in a shooting in Tula early Wednesday, and prosecutors opened an attempted murder investigation.
Russia's Izvestia newspaper reported that Cherezov was returning home from work at around 1:00 am when he was attacked by an unknown assailant.
The Tula branch of Russia's Investigative Committee said the victim had been hospitalised and investigators were working to identify the perpetrators and establish the circumstances.
Prosecutors did not release information on Cherezov's condition. Izvestia reported that his wife heard three shots but did not see who opened fire.
The Russian Air Transport Laboratory is known for developing the Ovod family of combat drones used by the Russian army in its war with Ukraine. Ukraine's administration made no immediate comment on the attack.
