Qatar says child injured after missile attack intercepted

Qatar said on Friday that its armed forces intercepted a missile attack targeting the country, and that a child was injured by falling debris after the interception.

Qatar's Ministry of Defense announced on X that the armed forces had intercepted a missile attack targeting the State of Qatar. The interior ministry later reported that falling debris injured a child.

The source said Iran has targeted several Gulf countries since hostilities with the United States resumed on July 7, claiming to be aiming at American military installations.

Qatar has acted as a mediator in talks with the United States alongside Pakistan and hosts the largest American base in the Middle East. The source said Qatar was targeted on Sunday for the first time since the April truce.
