Porsche Taycan production to end by 2030, report says

German business weekly WirtschaftsWoche reported Thursday that Porsche plans to end production of the Taycan, its flagship fully electric model, by 2030 after falling sales.

The magazine, citing company sources, said Porsche's works council had agreed in principle with management to phase out the model. Porsche did not respond to AFP's request for comment.

Taycan sales have declined from nearly 41,000 in 2023 to 16,000 last year and 6,000 in the first half of 2026. The model was launched in 2019 as Porsche pushed further into electric vehicles.

Porsche announced last year that it was rolling back its electric vehicle plans because of weaker-than-expected demand. The Taycan is one of two fully electric Porsche models currently on sale, alongside the Macan Electric SUV launched in 2024.
