Off-duty French police officer detains man after three women wounded in Paris knife attack
An off-duty French police officer detained a man on Monday after three women were wounded with two kitchen knives in the Porte de Clichy area of northern Paris, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez and Paris police said.
Police and Nunez said the assault happened at about 11:30 a.m. local time. The women, aged 19, 24 and 36, were taken to hospital.
Nunez said two of the women were gravely wounded but their lives were not in danger. He said one was hit in the lower back and another in the abdomen.
The suspect's identity and motive were not immediately clear. Nunez said the man had made incoherent statements and warned against jumping to conclusions about his motive.
