Paris FC turns to Liam Rosenior for Ligue 1 push

Paris FC are starting a new Ligue 1 season under English coach Liam Rosenior as the LVMH-linked club tries to build on an 11th-place finish and move closer to France's top teams.

The Arnault family, owners of the Louis Vuitton group LVMH, bought Paris FC in 2024 with the stated aim of taking the club into Ligue 1. After promotion and a first season in the top flight, the club replaced Antoine Kombouare with Rosenior when no agreement was reached on a contract extension.

Sporting director Marco Neppe said the club wants Rosenior to guide Paris FC "step by step" towards the top of the table. He said the club did not want to rush, but also did not want to set limits.

Paris FC's rise has brought a second club from the French capital into Ligue 1 alongside Paris Saint-Germain for the first time in 35 years. PSG remain the dominant club in the city and in French domestic football.

Rosenior coached Strasbourg from 2024 until January 2026 and helped the club return to European football. He then moved to Chelsea, where he was sacked in April after 23 matches. His last five Premier League games ended in defeats without Chelsea scoring.

Rosenior said at his July unveiling that Paris FC was an exciting project with "big" potential. His first match in charge is due to be away at Troyes on Saturday.

Uncertainty notes

Paris FC have not publicly set a specific target beyond improving on last season's 11th-place finish.
Neppe declined to specify exactly what Rosenior's next step should be.
