One killed and police officer wounded in Denmark shooting
One person was killed and a police officer was wounded in northern Denmark on Friday after a gunman opened fire on officers responding to a report of a building fire, police said.
The shooting happened in an industrial area of Norresundby. Police said a civilian man and a police officer at the scene were struck by gunfire. The civilian died, and the officer was in stable condition.
Police returned fire and badly wounded the shooter, who was taken to hospital. Authorities said the shooter had not been immediately identified.
Claus Dano, a senior official in the regional police force, said police did not yet know the exact circumstances or the reason for the shooting. He said the investigation would seek to clarify what happened.
