Russian authorities say Moscow region drone strikes wounded at least 10
Russian authorities said Ukraine launched scores of drones at the Moscow region on Monday night, causing fires and wounding at least 10 people.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said the wounded included a child and three Chinese citizens. He said several private homes were damaged in Podolsk, south of Moscow, and that the towns of Domodedovo, which has an international airport, and Odintsovo were also hit. Vorobyov said one person was wounded after a drone fell near their car on a motorway.
Russia said it downed almost 400 drones in the region around the capital. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 85 drones were shot down as they approached Moscow.
The strikes followed a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on Sunday that Kyiv said killed one person and wounded 16. They also came after Ukrainian strikes on e-commerce warehouses outside Moscow killed eight people on Saturday.
Kyiv has intensified retaliatory strikes on Russia in recent months. The source says those strikes have caused fuel shortages and disrupted ordinary life during Moscow's more than four-year offensive in Ukraine. Kyiv says its strikes on Russia, including attacks as far as the Urals and Siberia, are meant to damage Moscow's war effort and pressure the Kremlin to negotiate.
Talks to end the war have stalled. Moscow has not backed down from demands to seize the whole of eastern Ukraine, the source says.
