Moscow mayor says 81 drones destroyed near city after 390 targeted region
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 390 drones flew towards the Moscow region overnight, with 81 destroyed as they approached the Russian capital.
Sobyanin wrote on Telegram that the drones were heading towards the region between 8:30 pm and 6:30 am. He said most were neutralised by air defence forces well before reaching Moscow.
Moscow regional governor Andrey Vorobyov also said drone attacks damaged housing in the town of Chekhov and the village of Vaulovo.
The report did not give casualty figures or independent confirmation of the drone count. The incident came hours before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was expected to meet US President Donald Trump.
