Measles exposure warning for Universal Studios California

Los Angeles County health officials warned that visitors to Universal Studios in California may have been exposed to measles after a person with a contagious case was at the theme park on July 26.

The health department said anyone who was at the park between 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. should check whether they are properly vaccinated against measles. It advised people who are not properly vaccinated to contact a doctor and monitor for symptoms.

The department said pregnant women, infants and people who are immunocompromised should contact a doctor regardless of vaccination history.

The warning comes during a rise in US measles cases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported late last month that 2,318 confirmed cases had been recorded since the start of 2026. That surpassed the 2,289 cases and three deaths recorded in 2025.

Measles can cause fever, respiratory symptoms and skin rashes. It can also lead to severe complications, including pneumonia and brain inflammation.
