Mashhad attack kills two Basij members, Tasnim says

Two members of Iran's Basij forces were killed in an attack while patrolling in Mashhad, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported Saturday.

Tasnim said a pedestrian was also wounded by the attackers and taken to hospital. It did not give the date of the incident or identify the attacker or attackers.

The Basij is a paramilitary force affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards. Mashhad is home to the shrine of Imam Reza, where late supreme leader Ali Khamenei was buried early Friday.
