Macron calls for more European defence industry projects

French President Emmanuel Macron urged more European defence industry partnerships on Monday after France and Germany abandoned a joint fighter jet programme last month because of disagreements between the companies involved.

In a speech to the military, Macron said Europe should not stop after the failure of the Future Combat Air System programme, which he said he regretted. He called for multiple projects that would help make Europe an industrial reality.
