Luigi Mangione lawyer seeks murder charges dismissal

Luigi Mangione’s lawyer said Friday that New York state murder charges against him should be dropped after he pleaded guilty to a related federal stalking charge.

Mangione, who admits to gunning down a top US health care executive, entered the guilty plea in federal court. His attorney said the move should block the state murder case under New York’s double-jeopardy protections.

“State charges must be dismissed under New York's double jeopardy protections,” his lawyer told reporters.
