Libya car bomb kills LNA intelligence chief, army says

The Libyan National Army said its military intelligence chief, Fawzi al-Mansouri, was killed in a car bombing in eastern Libya.

The LNA said Tuesday that an explosive attached to al-Mansouri's car detonated Monday night as he was leaving a local mosque. Reports cited in the information said the killing happened in Benghazi.

The LNA did not identify who was behind the killing. It described the bombing as a criminal act and said it would continue what it called its fight against terrorism.

Libya remains divided between the UN-recognised government in Tripoli led by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah and a rival administration in Benghazi backed by military commander Khalifa Haftar, who heads the LNA.
