Lebanon state media says Israeli strike kills 7
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said Israeli warplanes struck a home near the village of Ansar in southern Lebanon early Saturday, August 15, killing seven people and wounding three others.
The agency said the strike destroyed the home on the village outskirts and that emergency rescuers were clearing rubble and taking casualties to hospital.
The National News Agency also reported a strike in the valley between Ansar and Zarariyeh, as well as airstrikes on the Ali al-Taher ridge, a strategic hill overlooking the Nabatieh area. It said Israeli shelling was also reported there and that Israeli forces detonated homes in Bint Jbeil near the border.
The reported strike came after violence had decreased following a US-Iran memorandum of understanding in June on the wider Middle East war and a US-sponsored framework deal between Lebanon and Israel later that month.
The Lebanon-Israel framework includes Hezbollah's disarmament, a gradual Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese army to the region, beginning in pilot zones. Lebanon still reports intermittent Israeli strikes and demolitions of civilian buildings in southern villages and towns.
