Kuwait orders only Iranian school to close

Kuwait has ordered the closure of the country's only Iranian school, a source at the education ministry told AFP on Thursday.

The source did not give a reason for the closure. The text of the decision said the education minister had revoked the private Iranian school's educational licence and ordered it shut.

New admissions were suspended for the coming academic year, and the ministry urged parents to transfer their children to other schools.

Kuwait was among several Gulf states hosting US forces that were targeted by Iran during the Middle East war, most recently when a June ceasefire between the belligerents broke down.
