Nikkei falls more than 6% as technology shares extend losses
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 fell more than 6% on Friday as technology companies extended recent heavy losses and investor concern grew about how long the artificial intelligence boom will last. In afternoon trade, the index was down 6.02%, or 4,026.47 points, at 62,809.07. The fall deepened from an earlier drop of more than 4% in morning trade, when the Nikkei was down 4.07% at 64,113.32. South Korea's benchmark Kospi index was closed for a public holiday.
