Iran denies nuclear facility at Kolang mountain after Trump threat

Iran again denied on Wednesday that there is any secret nuclear complex at Kolang mountain after US President Donald Trump threatened to strike the site in central Iran.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on X that Washington's focus on Kolang Kouh, where he said no nuclear activity is taking place, was a fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction and sabotage. He said Iran's nuclear activities have been fully declared to the United Nations atomic watchdog.

Trump warned on Tuesday that the United States would hit the site, known in English as Pickaxe Mountain. He said the attack would come soon and would be heavy, and added that he would not normally announce targets but that there was nothing Iran could do about it.

The United States had not carried out the threatened strike at the time of the report.

In 2025, US media outlets including The Washington Post and The New York Times reported that Iran had accelerated construction at a secret underground nuclear site at Kolang mountain. Tehran denied those reports. The mountain is near Iran's Natanz nuclear facility, which the United States bombed during a brief war in June 2025.
