India's shipping minister launched a Seafarer-First emergency response mechanism for Indian seafarers in the conflict-affected region.

The mechanism is intended to create a vessel-by-vessel operational dashboard for Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman.

India's foreign ministry called for an immediate end to violence and a return to dialogue and diplomacy in keeping with international law.

Another commercial vessel with 11 Indians on board was attacked Sunday off Oman; 10 Indians were rescued and one remains missing.

Trump backed down Tuesday from a threat to tax ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

India summoned Iran's senior diplomat in New Delhi to protest against the attacks on two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

India's foreign ministry said the vessels were MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa.

The ministry said the two vessels had 46 crew members in total, including 30 Indians.

The ministry said one Indian seafarer was killed and several others were wounded.

The Iranian embassy declined to comment when contacted.

India called for an immediate cessation of violence and a return to dialogue and diplomacy in keeping with international law.

The source reported that another commercial vessel with 11 Indians aboard was attacked off Oman on Sunday, with 10 rescued and one missing.
