Houthi drone attack kills 3 Yemen troops, source says

A Houthi drone attack in Yemen's Marib province killed three members of government forces and wounded four others on Friday, a Yemeni military source told AFP.

The source, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, said the toll from the attack on the Harib area in southern Marib was preliminary.

The same source said artillery exchanges and clashes were taking place in Sirwah and on the Al-Kasara front north of Marib city, where Houthi drones were spotted. The source said the rebels also hit an arms depot in the province.

The attack came a day after Houthi missile and drone attacks killed at least 58 government troops, according to a military source, in one of the deadliest incidents between the two sides in years.

Yemen's conflict has lasted more than a decade. A 2022 truce between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed government had largely held before unravelling last month. AFP reported that the Houthis later announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and began hitting Saudi tankers.
