GTA VI time off offered for US Army reenlistment
A US Army battalion commander is offering soldiers four days off for the November 19 launch of “Grand Theft Auto VI” if they reenlist for at least two more years.
Soldiers in the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion, based at Fort Stewart in Georgia, qualify for the “special 4-day pass” if they reenlist between August 1 and November 14, according to a memo by Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Hodgson reported by Task & Purpose.
US media reported that 20 of 130 eligible soldiers had accepted the offer, citing Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko, a spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division, which includes the battalion.
“GTA VI” has been in development for six years, at a cost of up to $2 billion. Fans have waited 13 years for a new main instalment since “GTA V” in 2013.
Uncertainty notes
The available information does not say whether the incentive applies beyond the named battalion.
