Greek man arrested after father's body found in freezer

A 55-year-old Greek man was arrested in Mystras in the Peloponnese after police found his father’s body in a freezer, the Ana news agency reported Wednesday.

Ana reported that the man had kept his dead father in the freezer for two-and-a-half years to continue collecting his pension.

The man told police his father, who would now be 90, had died of natural causes, Ana reported. He had initially told investigators that his father had gone to live in Athens.

Police found the body in a freezer in the basement of a former hotel that had been turned into housing.
