Google unveils Pixel Tag and AI phone features

Google is unveiling a Pixel Tag tracking device, an upgraded Pixel Watch and new artificial intelligence features for its Pixel 11 smartphone at a New York launch event Wednesday.

The Pixel Tag is a finder device that can connect to Android devices and help locate items such as wallets, luggage or keys. Google said the device sells for $29.99, or 34.99 euros.

The Pixel Watch 5 includes functions such as monitoring remaining subway stops and pausing an audiobook or podcast when a listener falls asleep. Google said the new watch also extends earlier emergency features by detecting respiratory problems if someone is not getting enough oxygen.

The Pixel 11 uses AI advances from Google Gemini. Google product leader Justin Savich said the phone was “purpose-built to do more for you with less from you.” The system could automatically respond to a text message about a flight arrival time, place a restaurant reservation based on a conversation or turn spoken commands into a clear text message.

The devices can be ordered starting Wednesday and are due in stores from August 20. The Pixel 11 starts at $899, or 999 euros, and ranges up to $1,899, or 1,999 euros. The Pixel Watch starts at $399, or 419 euros.
