Gaza strikes kill two, hit medical warehouses: medics

Israeli drone strikes in Gaza killed two people on Saturday, hospitals said, while Gaza's civil defence agency and health ministry said another Israeli strike extensively damaged medical supply warehouses belonging to Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Al-Shifa Hospital said it received one body and several injured people after an Israeli drone strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of Gaza City. The Israeli military said it was aware of one strike in the area on what it called a Hamas terrorist and was still checking the outcome.

In Deir el-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, Al-Aqsa Hospital said it received one body and several injured people after a separate Israeli drone strike. The Israeli military said it had struck a Hamas military operative in that incident.

Gaza's civil defence agency said an Israeli strike in the early hours caused extensive damage to a storage facility for medicines and medical supplies belonging to Al-Aqsa Hospital. The Palestinian health ministry condemned the strike and said two of four warehouses were obliterated, the other two were severely damaged, and an adjacent outpatient clinic building was significantly damaged.

The health ministry said vital quantities of medical consumables and supplies for patients and wounded people were lost or destroyed. AFP footage from the site showed a large crater and Palestinians sifting through what appeared to be medical supplies scattered by the blast.

The strikes came a day after Hamas said it had agreed to a deal to end the war with Israel, including provisions for handing over its weapons and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Israel has not officially commented, but an Israeli political source told AFP there would be no withdrawal without Hamas's genuine disarmament.
