Gaza strikes kill three, including child, rescuers say
Israeli strikes in central Gaza killed three people on Sunday, including a four-year-old child, the civil defence rescue service said, while Israel's military said it had targeted a “terrorist” in one of the strikes.
The civil defence, which operates under Hamas authority, said two people were killed in an air strike in Al-Zawayda, including Muhammad Abdel Salam Taha, 4. It said the dead and several wounded were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
The rescue service said another Israeli strike killed one person in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The Israeli military said it would provide further details later.
An October ceasefire has reduced but not halted violence in Gaza. Gaza's health ministry, which also operates under Hamas authority, says Israeli operations have killed 1,286 people since the ceasefire took effect; the United Nations considers the ministry's figures reliable. The Israeli army has reported five deaths in its ranks and one civilian contractor killed over the same period.
Uncertainty notes
The Israeli military did not provide further details about which strike it referred to or the identity of the person it said it targeted.
The casualty figures are attributed to Gaza civil defence and Gaza's health ministry.
