Gaza strikes kill four, civil defence says

Gaza's civil defence agency and two hospitals said Israeli attacks on Thursday killed four people, including two children, across the Gaza Strip, while Israel's military said it struck several Hamas infrastructure sites overnight.

Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal said four people were killed and several wounded in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza.

The civil defence agency said one Palestinian was killed and 10 others were wounded in an airstrike near a displaced people's camp next to Gaza City's Yarmouk Stadium.

Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis said its emergency service received two dead people, including an eight-year-old girl, and three wounded after what it said was an Israeli helicopter strike on the tent of the Balawi family west of Khan Yunis.

Al-Aqsa hospital in central Gaza reported the arrival of a dead child and several wounded after an airstrike hit an apartment near the municipality building in the nearby Bureij refugee camp.

The Israeli military did not confirm any individual attack, but said the Israel Defense Forces struck several Hamas infrastructure sites overnight Thursday.

The strikes were reported while a ceasefire remains in place between Israel and Hamas. Two sources familiar with the talks said a Hamas delegation was in Cairo with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators for discussions aimed at consolidating the agreement.

Gaza's health ministry says at least 1,214 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire was announced. The Israeli military says it has lost five soldiers in Gaza over the same period, along with one civilian contractor.

AFP said media restrictions and limited access in Gaza prevent it from independently verifying tolls or freely covering the violence there.
