France, Switzerland set July drought records, AFP says
France and Switzerland had record drought conditions in July, with 95 percent of mainland France and 99 percent of Switzerland affected, according to an AFP analysis published Monday.
AFP said the figures were records for both countries since the European Drought Observatory began collecting such data in 2012.
The analysis, based on drought data released by the EU's Copernicus climate observatory, also found July drought records in Hungary, Slovenia and Austria.
