France inflation rises to 2.1% in July

French consumer prices rose 2.1% year-on-year in July, up from 1.8% in June, provisional figures from statistics body INSEE showed Friday.

INSEE said higher prices for services and energy drove the increase. Its provisional Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, used for eurozone comparisons, rose 2.4% year-on-year in July after a 2.0% rise in June.

The finance ministry said the rise remained contained and came as growth reached 0.2% in the second quarter.
