Colombia says ELN drone attack injures three at airport

Colombia’s military said National Liberation Army guerrillas injured three workers in a drone attack on Tibu Airport near the Venezuelan border on Thursday.

The armed forces blamed the attack on the ELN, Colombia’s largest active guerrilla group. “Three workers presented injuries caused by the blast,” the military said on X.

The airport was damaged in the attack.

Armed groups in Colombia have increased their use of attack drones against security forces and, in some cases, civilian targets.

President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella has vowed to break off peace talks with armed groups and defeat them militarily when he takes office on August 7.
