Xi calls for global cooperation and controls on AI
China’s leader Xi Jinping said artificial intelligence should not be dominated by a single country and called for international cooperation on its development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on Friday, Xi said AI development should not be a “solo performance” by one country, but should instead involve global cooperation.
Xi also called for laws and regulations, technological monitoring, early warning systems and emergency response systems to ensure AI remains under human control. He said the approach to AI should be people-centric.
