China earthquake: 5.9 quake hits Qinghai, USGS says
A shallow earthquake struck China's central Qinghai province early Wednesday, with the US Geological Survey measuring it at magnitude 5.9.
USGS said the quake was in a mountainous rural area, 269 kilometres southeast of Dunhuang, at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Xinhua reported that the China Earthquake Networks Center registered the tremor at magnitude 5.6.

Any damage or casualties were not immediately clear.
