Trump says US will help new British prime minister after call
US President Donald Trump said Monday that he had a “very good” conversation with Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham and said the United States would support him.
Trump said Washington had an “outstanding relationship” with the UK and that the two leaders would meet soon. In a post on Truth Social, he said Burnham had “a big job ahead of him” but would be able to do it, adding that the United States would help.
Trump said the call covered issues including trade, military cooperation and demining the Strait of Hormuz.
The call was Burnham's first phone call with Trump on Monday. Downing Street had said Burnham underlined his commitment to defence and security during the call.
