Bordeaux wildfire evacuees allowed home, with warning

French authorities allowed people evacuated from three villages near Bordeaux because of a large wildfire to return home on Tuesday, but told them they must be ready to leave again if necessary.

Sophie Brocas, the region's prefect, said she had lifted the evacuation order imposed during the weekend for Haillan, Merignac and Eysines.

Brocas said returning residents must keep their mobile phones on, follow safety rules and leave if they receive an alert.
